Fed: PM says govt will do more for childcare if it can

JOHN HOWARD says the government will consider doing more to help with childcare costs.

But the PM says they're already almost fully tax deductible .. and the government can't
afford to meet all costs.

He's told Southern Cross Broadcasting some women aren't going back to work because
they're unhappy with childcare arrangements.

A parliamentary committee report released yesterday .. said more women would be attracted
to working .. if a tax deduction was offered for childcare.
