NSW: M1 violence won t be tolerated police=2

The NSW School Education Department said it would be "foolish" for children to participate
in the M1 blockade.

However, it was something parents, not the department, needed to work out with their
children, deputy director general Alan Laughlin said.

"I think that would be very foolish and suspect a lot of parents would be quite concerned
if students from any school, anywhere, joined in a protest of that nature," he told reporters.

"We have seen what happened overseas and I think that was a wrong signal, a wrong process
to be involved in by any juvenile."

He said any parent of a child who was considering protesting should provide their child
with "a more balanced view of what the world's about".
