WA:Cyclone Heidi less than 100km from land

Tropical Cyclone HEIDI is now less than 100 kilometres from Port Hedland, one of Australia's
biggest shipping towns.

The category two cyclone has slowed down but the weather bureau is still expecting
it to cross the coast early on Thursday morning, bringing with it destructive winds and
storm tides.

Pilbara coast residents in Port Hedland and the satellite towns of Pardoo, South Hedland
and Whim Creek have been issued with a red alert to take shelter immediately.
