SA: Big business suffering from gas shortage

ADELAIDE, Jan 2 AAP - A gas shortage caused by a plant fire at South Australia's major
supplier was having a significant economic impact, businesses said today.

Fifty of SA's largest businesses have been asked to stop using gas in the wake of the
three-hour fire, which broke out in the Liquids Recovery Plant section of Santos's Moomba
gas plant at 3am (CDT) yesterday.

Investigations were continuing today, but the extent of the damage and the likely length
of the shutdown remained unknown.
