NT: $250,000 Namatjira stolen

Police say an original ALBERT NAMATJIRA painting worth an estimated $250,000 has beenstolen from an Alice Springs gallery.

They say the painting, called Twin Gums, disappeared shortly before the Panorama Guthgallery closed at 4.30pm CST (6pm AEDT) on Friday.

Police have released a likeness of a man, aged in his mid 20s, who was seen in thegallery about the time of the disappearance.

They believe the man is of Aboriginal appearance, about 187cm tall and is of medium build.

The painting is about one metre by one metre and mounted in a bronze-coloured frame.

Police want to speak anyone who was in the gallery at the time when they painting isbelieved to have been stolen.
